Inlay / Onlay

These are restorations used in cases that require replacement of larger fillings. If we notice that the cavity needing replacement is large for a filling material but not large enough to be requiring a full crown, we may indicate an inlay or an onlay. An inlay & onlay are lab-fabricated restorations that may require two visits. An inlay, like a filling, occupies within the tooth whereas an onlay covers the inside and a portion of the outside of the tooth also. These restorations are bonded to the teeth, which protects the remaining tooth structure from breaking. The porcelain inlays/ onlays replace the deteriorating silver fillings and give an esthetic enhancement to the smile.
